Project Summary
Between 2015 and 2017, we completed two installations of our heavy-duty pontoons in Howth Harbour for the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), giving local fishermen somewhere suitable to offload their catch, and ferry passengers a comfortable and convenient boarding point.

The most challenging part of the project was ensuring the pontoons were robust enough for the commercial activities while not looking out of place in such a picturesque location.
Following the completion of the projects, fisherman working from the busy harbour access their boats safely from strong and stable berths, built specifically to withstand the demanding nature of their work – not matter what the weather.
The high reserve buoyancy of the floating pontoons also enables the ferry operator to offer both its tourist passengers seamless access and egress to the ferry in a wide range of conditions.
The pontoons continue to serve the many fishermen and tourists well and the thoughtful design has not detracted from the aesthetics of the surrounding area.
